The World and Lore

Common Foods

- Blueberries
An uncommon treat, blueberries have a taste unlike any other fruit known to rodents. They're soft, sweet and blue.

- Strawberries
Commonly found in groups, this small, wild strawberry plant spreads with underground sprouts. It's often sour, but provides a quick refreshment when traveling.

- Acorns
A classic, these nuts often drop from the trees in Autumn and are easily gathered. They're good for snacking on.

- Walnuts - Another classic, the walnut is large and takes up much space when storing it. They are rather dry, but there's lots of them, and they're good for you.

- Honeysuckle - A rare treat, honeysuckle is delicious if you know how to find the golden delight within. Each flower doesn't hold much, but each plant holds several flowers.

- Tree sap - Only the most experienced know how to get tree sap. If a deep enough hole is bored into the right tree, you may find yourself a little bit of tree sap - sticky, but sweet. However, it's not effective, as only a small bit of the sap is gained each time a hole is made.

Mushrooms - Very nutritious, mushrooms appear generally after rainstorms. While a few are poisonous, most are good for you. It's worth the risk...isn't it?

- Seeds - Seeds are very common and make a nice meal. Found nearly everywhere, they're a great snack when traveling, and last for a long time. There are all kinds of seeds, each very different than the other.

- Corn/Wheat - While a rarer food and generally hardened when found, they are great snacks and meals, storing for long periods of time.

- Insects - Highly nutritious and filling! While generally not a desired food, it makes a meal in a pinch.

Known Enemies

Cats - Often the most feared, they are rarely seen in Redwood and most commonly around human buildings. Spotted by one of these terrifying creatures is almost certain death.

Hawks - These birds of prey attack quickly when you least expect it. They're common everywhere, and pose a threat whether in woods or field. However, they are uncommonly found around human buildings.

Owls - Silent and deadly, the owl is the killer of the night. They are found everywhere - field, wood, even inside old barns.

Snakes - Silent, stealthy, and deadly. They're very difficult to see, and strike when your back is turned.

Culture & Festivities

Art - Art is popular and is quite easy to do. A stick or leaf stem provides a nice pencil, whereas leaves, rocks and bark make for good paper. Ink is usually colored water or mashing fruit for its juice. If done correctly, it can be preserved to last a long time.

Music - While much more uncommon, music is fun and simple to do. It can be leaves rubbing together, seeds in a empty nut, or rocks banging together.

Homes - Houses for a rodent are limitless. Most homes are a small hole or crevice hidden somewhere, lined with soft material such as feathers, grass, etc. Sometimes homes are larger or have extensions, like an extra storage room for food. The possibilities are endless.

Studying - Studying is a large part of a rodent's life, as they are incredibly smart and want to make life better for themselves.. Learning more, practicing skills, studying the world around them is important and considered "wise".
